New Zinn Travel Bike

This titanium 29er has a Rohloff rear hub with 14 internal speeds and couplers to break it down. The customer lives in Kosovo and works there and in Uganda and Sudan and wanted a foolproof bike that nothing could go wrong with-- no derailleurs, etc. It has an eccentric bottom bracket to tension the chain. As you can see, it fits in a 28 X 28 10-inch case.

Let us know if we can build one for you!

Adding Some Help to the Fit Tool

Due to popular demand, we have added some help files to the fit tool at http://www.zinncycles.com/fitsystems. You'll find a diagram explaining some of the measures that you need to enter to receive the appropriate results. We're planning to add a bike diagram as well to explain the resulting measurements.

Why Does a Custom Bike Cost So Much?

I was recently asked by someone browsing my web site why custom bikes cost so much.

I am not in the business of making stock bikes. These are custom, and being all different from each other, there are no economies of scale. My prices are not out of line with high-end custom bikes; I just don't make anything to go up against the average bike in a bike shop. I realize that there is no option for a tall rider who wants a $1,000 bike. Apparently, big bike companies do not think that is enough of a market to bother with. I can't fix that; I can only do what I can do, which is make great bikes that big riders can use for years that are stiff, stable, strong and won't shimmy or break.

Though if you look at my price sheets available on my website at http://www.zinncycles.com/MtnBikePricing.aspx and http://www.zinncycles.com/RoadPrice3.aspx you can put together a very decent custom bike starting at about $3000.
